Pavlos FereosDirector | Robotics | Python

Architect with a Diploma and an M.Phil from NTUA along with an M.Arch (DRL) from the AA, he’s pursuing a PhD in Robotics at the Bartlett. He’s a visiting Lecturer at Exp.Arch Robotic Lab in Innsbruck, and has taught Diploma Studio at LSBU and computational workshops at the Bartlett GAD. As the only official rainmaker, he’s the director of decode and authorized representative of McNeel Europe in Greece.
He’s most of the time not in Athens, mainly flying around, but when he does visit the lab, he tends to sleep in it.
He hates everyone not from planet Endor.

Aris SpyrouSales & Fabrication Manager

Architect with Diploma from National Technical University of Athens, his interests lie in fabrication technologies and rapid prototyping, with large experience in hands-on fabrication projects, material properties and detailing on interior design. Strongly involved in decode since 2014 he’s in charge of the fabrication lab expansion, operating most of the machinery, along with the sales department.
His car is full of mdf, plywood, plexiglas and countless boxes of pharmaceuticals .

Eftihis EfthimiouComputational Instructor

A biologist and a designer, with a diploma from the Uni. of Ioannina and a M.Arch GAD from the Volos School of Architecture, UTh with distinction. He is researching the application of systems thinking on design and morphogenesis, through the use of autopoetic design systems. Apart from Decode, he is a Lecturer at Exp.Arch, Fakultät für Architektur, UIbk, and a Scientific Collaborator at the Advanced Design Graduate Program, School of Architecture, AUTh. He is fascinated by any design endeavor, be it an architectural project, a live media performance, product design or a graphic novel.
He would like the world to be more like his sketchbook. The world doesn’t.

Vasilis ChlorokostasRhino Training & 3DPrint

Architect with a diploma from Aristotle Uni. of Thessaloniki and an M.Arch GAD from the Bartlett UCL with Distinction.. His research-by-design focuses on the “textural” aspect of architecture, especially using 3D sculpting and recursive subdivision techniques.
He’s the Jewelry design instructor of decode along with the sales and support manager for McNeel’s Rhino3D in Greece.
He was very excited to receive from Peter Cook the Bartlett UCL 2012 Bronze Medal only soon to realize it was a bronze spray-painted 3d-printed ear. He keeps it locked in his basement.

Giorgos PatsoumasSales | Fabrication

Architect holding a diploma in Architecture and an MSc in urban planning from NTUA, he is currently a lecturer at Metropolitan College in Thessaloniki. With experience in architectural practice, he focuses on design, 3D Modeling, material fabrication and 3D-Printing, representing Decode in Thesaloniki,
He flies often to Athens to share jokes that nobody really wants to hear.

Marios TsiliakosGrasshopper | C# | VB.Net

Architect holding a diploma in Architecture from N.T.U.Athens and a Msc in Adaptive Architecture and Computation from the Bartlett U.C.L. His research focuses mainly on data driven design methodologies and it has been published in conferences such as eCCADe & CAADRIA. Developer of “Nudibranch” add-on for Grasshopper3D, he’s the computational instructor of formDEcode, specializing in GH, C#, VB.Net and Processing. Late at night he plays handball, yet nobody cares.

Dimitris PapageorgiouVRay for Rhino

Architect with a Diploma from the National Technical University of Athens, his research interests are split between landscape design and architectural visualization. His work has been featured and awarded in several architectural biennale exhibitions including Barcelona, Puerto Rico and the Biennale of Young Architects.
He is formdecode’s visiting V-ray specialist, willing to spread his deep enthusiasm for new visualizations techniques.

Olivia KotsifaDesigner, Educator, International Relations

Architect and academic, graduate of Oxford Brookes University UK (DipArch, MSc) and of MIT Fab Academy course.
Co-founder and former manager of Fab Lab Cardiff, Olivia is part of the Fab Lab Network and now travels around the world fabricating her design ideas in Fab Labs and makerspaces worldwide. Her interest is on social and outdoor design through co-creation and in the intersection of the Fab Lab Network and mobility, aiming to make almost anything while travelling. In the last two years she has travelled to Europe, Central and South America, and South East Asia giving lectures, workshops hands on collaborative projects and consulting.

Angelos ChronisProcessing

Architect graduate of Uni.Patras with an Msc in Adaptive Architecture and Computation from U.C.L, he’s an Associate at the Applied Research & Development group of Foster + Partners and a module leader at AAC, Bartlett. His research focuses on the integration of simulation environments & optimization methods, in the field of computational fluid dynamics. A frequent scientific committee reviewer, he’s widely published & awarded in international journals. He usually complains about things, yet he is mostly right.

Tsabikos PetrasVRay for 3DS Max

Architect graduate of NTUA where from he also holds a Master in Architecture and is currently pursuing his PhD under the title ‘Perception of Urban Landscape’. He’s been honored with the “Europe’s emerging architect – 40under40″ award in 2011. As strongly involved in Architectural Visualization since 2005, with numerous acclaims in national and international competitions, he’s formDEcode’s Render and Visualization instructor. Within decode, he is usually referred as the “Magician”.

ABOUT US

The team decode fab lab is comprised of architects who share the aspiration of making computational knowledge, research and fabrication more accessible.

Founded in 2013 as a research lab where education, fabrication and production can meet through Architecture in a coherent and effective way. Based in Athens and focusing, but not exclusively, on Rhinoceros3D software and plugins, decode is on its second year beta phase of constant growth, expansion and learning.

With recent addition of 3dPrinting and Lasercutting machinery, an on-growing network of researchers and students, decode has in its 1 year of operation completed more than 25 workshops with more than 100 students participating. Our ultimate goal is to be able to facilitate software training, design research and large-scale material fabrication in-house. A dedicated collectively managed Fab Lab in Athens.
